Mostyn House Development - Photo Diary Part 5

Author: Chris Howe Published: 7th April 2014 08:48

The development of the Mostyn House site in Parkgate reached a milestone last week, with the completion of one of the first houses.

The scaffolding has been removed and the garden already landscaped ready for visitors over the coming weeks. It looked like there was still some work being carried out on the interior fit out, but the main structure of the building looks complete.

As far as I can tell only half of the site for the new build houses has been developed, with the other half used for storage and parking for the construction workers. Already though the the original structures are being hidden by new properties.

As part of the re-submitted planning application it was made clear that there had to be an unimpeded line of site to the original buildings. So for example the remaining building in the middle of the site will be visible from the entrance to Grenfell Park.

There will also have to be clear lines of site to the Chapel and main school building itself and the 5 story tower will always loom over the site as a reminder of what was once there.

Work continues on connecting the utilities and work is also beginning on the approaches to the site, with a section of road to be widened and new paths to be installed.

I live basically live on-top of the construction site. What would be lovely, is if the residents who are directly affected by the build could be told of what is going on. Not all the time, but just major issues where we can prepare to leave for work a bit earlier! Maybe the contractors onsite could not block us in and park across our driveways and look at us in disgust when we want to come or go from our homes. Perhaps they might give us a gift certificate to get our cars washed after all the dust created this week by the removal of the wall, (and no, it wasn't sahara sand!) not to mention all the mud we have to drive though and walk through when we go out. "considerate contractors"....Hmm

I live in the cottages along Station Road, and would also like to be told of what is going on! especially when it comes to all the builders parking along the road, leaving no where for residents to park! also we have to collect their rubbish on a daily basis, brush up the cigarette ends, the sand and cement etc.,etc., they really are oblivious to the mess they leave, and as you say a gift certificate to get our cars washed and windows cleaned, after all the dust created by wagons passing on a daily basis also the heavy goods vehicles are causing cracks in the render to my house, which was repaired earlier this year...... Station Road wasnt built to accommodate heavy goods vehicles zooming along. Nobody from the company responsible for the building work or the council have EVER contacted the residents in Station Road to apologise for all the inconvenience/stress we are all subjected to on a daily basis. "considerate contractors" NOT...

You need to log in before you can do that! It's only a quick registration process to join the AMA network and completely free.
