Letter to the Editor
I have been researching my family history and find that my great-grandfather, John Jones, born c1860 from Yorkshire, was a Shoe & Boot maker in Bridge Street, Neston, in 1901, and was working from home in Raby Road in 1911.
His wife, Mary Ellen, would perhaps have been involved with the Ladies Day walk.
Would anybody have any more information about the family, including my grandfather James Edward Jones born 1885, who worked at the Neston colliery?
Caroline Brewer

1. Copy of page from accident book at Neston Colliery. "13 October 1911 James Jones (Cobbler) Haulagehand* aged 22 Raby Road Neston Monday night 9th inst, scratched side with iron plate slipping off air vessel. Fred Buckley present - reported to R. Durham. Official report by W. Evans."
(*This word is hard to read.) (The age does not fit, but the rest of the information points to this being the James Edward Jones born 1885)
2. Notes from Kelly's Directory: 1901 John Jones, Boot and Shoe; 1911 Raby Road; 1914 High Street.
