Does anyone know where Gouldings Cottages are or were?

Letter to the Editor : Gouldings Cottages?

Dear Editor,

My father lived in Gouldings Cottages in Neston.  Does anyone know if they still exist, or if not, exactly where they stood? 

The address was: Colliery Lane Brick Yard, No.10 Gouldings Cottages. The business operated in the 1927-1930 time frame, and I have the account book with this address. The brickyard was operated by brothers Edward(Marlow) and Henry (Swad) Jones.

With at least 10 houses it must have been a significant row of houses. It rings bells with me, but not loud enough!  Marshlands Road was called Colliery Lane in those days.

I was told that the house - recently sold - at the junction of Burton Road and Marshlands road used to be part of the brickyard. Following andy w's link that site is named in the 1910 map as "Hallfield Brickyard". linda p

Gouldings Cottages are the left hand side of New Street in Little NEston, also known just as New Street or Twenty One Row. The right hand side is known as Smiths Cottages or Eighteen Row. The numbers on both sides replicateeach other which causes no end of fun to Royal Mail and parcel deliveries
