I'm a non professional filmmaker and currently looking at subjects on the Dee estuary - the theme being things that have declined and vanished.
Mostyn House School had a song Loyal Devoir. I'd like sight of the words and music - and even better a recording of the song being sung.
Can anyone help me find this information?
If you can help, please either leave your comment below, or send James an email.

"Written by ALGERNON GRENFELL, father of Daryl, grandfather of Julian and great-grandfather of Suzi. I still have my ORIGINAL 'shortened Psalter' from 1950 and am sure the words of LOYAL DEVOIR ar printed in the Centenary Order of Service of 1952. (Daryl got the date of the Centenary wrong according to GWP !).But since the words have been found I won't search. How interesting !"

I am informed that it is to be installed at Charterhouse during the summer holidays (believe it or not they can't do it until then as the bellfoundry staff are not CRB checked!)

Now that the ties of school we part,
Lord of all grace, remind each heart
How though we work or play, thou art
Our Lord the same
Our Lord the same
Guard Lord and guide, with thy good grace
Those who are ending, her, their race
Teach them to seek thy loving face,
To love thee more
To love thee more
May those returning while they can,
Renew the race that here they ran
More unto thee,less unto man
Then e'er before
Than e'er before
Help them protected by thy right
To hate the dark, to love the light
Fearing the wrong, daring the right
Facing the foe,
Facing the foe
5th verse - can't remember, but it ends
Wheree'er they go
Where'er they go
Then be our lot to laugh or mourn,
Till shadows flee at heaven's dawn
Bearing the motto we have borne
Loyal Devoir
Loyal Devoir.
It was written by AG Grenfell, and the tune is "Day of Rest" by JB Dykes. There is a descant to the second and fourth verses that we used to sing and the descant appears again in the last line of the last verse.
I am surprised no one else remembers it It is the ultimate tear jerker.
