Post Box in Earle Drive, Neston

Why has the postbox at the top of Earle Drive, Neston, been covered up for the past few weeks, and will it ever be re-instated?

The post boxes on liverpool road and drake road were blocked after a spate of mail thefts from them,possibly the same might have happened to your post box AW,Jonson road,Neston

That would make sense but it's hardly a positive solution! If Post Box thefts are being committed then either the post boxes should be made more secure or preferably, the miscreants apprehended.
In the meantime it's a huge inconvenience to many people who no longer have a local postbox in which to deposit their mail.
It does seem like the issue is being swept under the carpet at the expense of service to the local community. Comment from the Postal Service and Police would be helpful. What is the official position?

I have raised this issue with Royal Mail and the box is temporarily closed due to mail being stolen from it.
A solution is on order and will be fitted shortly and the box will then be open again for use; at present any items posted there would potentially be at risk from thieves.

I'm delighed to note that there's a shiny, brand new postbox at the top of Earle Drive. I'm not sure yet if the Drake Road and Liverpool Road boxes have also been replaced - I'll have a look when I'm out and about later.
