Neston's Other Pub - The White Horse

While reading one of the site's fascinating articles on the History of Neston, I was intrigued (as a relative newcomer to the area) to discover that the property currently under renovation at the Cross (due soon to become business premises for RBM Davies) was once another local pub called 'The White Horse.

I'd be really interested to discover the history of the pub, when it closed (and why) - and hear people's recollections of the place.

Does anyone have a photograph of the building when it was still a pub? Hopefully someone can satisfy my curiousity...

Funnily enough, I visited Neston shortly after reading your article. In the window of the Gallery by HSBC there is a framed photograph of this pub, displaying a sign saying 'Birkenhead Brewery Fine Ales'.

I didn't have time to go in and chat about the photograph, but maybe you could? I'd love to know more about it too, so do post what you discover!

Thanks for the pointer Debbie C - I've checked out the Gallery shop and it actually has TWO photos of the building 'as a pub' in the window - I just don't fancy forking out £25 for the privilege if owning one!
