Celebrating adult learners' week

Stockport residents are being urged to sign up for learning events for Adult Learners' Week, which runs from Saturday 9th to Friday 15th May.

Education

The Council's Continuing Education Service is celebrating Adult Learners' Week by offering various workshops, taster sessions and open day events throughout the borough.

The following free events are being held across the borough:

.     Art and Crafts Exhibition at Vernon Park Museum, Offerton from Saturday 9th to Wednesday 27th May. The opening day will include a Craft Sale from 11.00am to 4.00pm, plus a selection of free taster workshops in aromatherapy and massage, cake decorating, languages, local history, quilting and rag rugging.

.     Free workshops are being held at Dialstone Library about the social history of Stockport on Wednesday 13th May, from 11.00am to 12.00noon and 1.00pm to 2.00pm and at Staircase House on Saturday 16th May, from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

.     An Information Advice and Guidance drop in session will be held at The Salvation Army on Short Street, Heaton Norris on Thursday 14th May, from 9.30am to 12.30pm. This is for anyone needing help with career choices, entry to employment, further education courses and skills for life.

.     For learners with learning difficulties and disabilities a selection of courses and activities will be running at an open evening at Bridge College, Curzon Road, Offerton on Thursday 14th May, from 7.30 to 9.00pm.

.     A Silver Surfers drop in event is being held at Bridgehall Community Centre, from 1.00pm to 3.00pm on Friday 15th May. It is suitable for complete beginners or people looking to gain confidence using the computer and accessing the internet.
