On Sunday 18th March starting at 6.30 pm in Leeds Parish Church, St Peter's Singers give a performance of John Henry Maunder's Olivet to Calvary at in place of Choral Evensong.
London organist John Henry Maunder's cantatas once enjoyed more frequent hearings than they receive today. Olivet to Calvary alone survives in regular use. Rich in melody as well as harmony, Maunder's music sets the scene of the first Palm Sunday and the remaining drama of Holy Week.
Soloists will be Paul Dutton and Philip Wilcox and The Singers will be accompanied by David Houlder at the Parish Church Organ. The musical work is directed by the Parish Church Organist and Director of St Peter's Singers since 1977 Dr Simon Lindley. Free admission (Retiring Collection)
