Watch the video with Nature TV Presenter Simon King giving his top tips and advice for a safe trip out to the Great Outdoors.

Many of us love a good walk, to get out into the countryside and breathe the fresh air, and see the beautiful sights of the UK. However, a walk in the countryside is not always such a walk in the park as each year Mountain Rescue have to help people who have not prepared properly, and get themselves into some sticky situations.

Simon King spends a lot of time in the wilderness and knows the importance of preparation, from appropriate clothing for the weather to having the right tools, Simon has teamed up with national map makers, Ordnance Survey, to give us a brief lesson on how to make sure you can have a fun but safe walk. Simon also demonstrates the brand new OS Locate app which works without mobile coverage to help the public navigate their way through the great outdoors.
