Key workers from care rewarded with High Street savings

Published: 5th October 2020 15:00

PEOPLE from Devon looking for job fulfilment can join a care team in the county and receive rewards for their work in the form of help with their weekly and monthly shopping bills (October 2020).

HomeLife Carers, which has offices in Barnstaple, Okehampton, Plymouth and Tiverton, now provides a shopping discount scheme for all its care key workers.

Katie Jewell, Regional Manager for the care provider, said: “Our staff are all key workers helping keep the elderly and vulnerable safely at home during the current Coronavirus pandemic, and we’re also protecting the NHS from being overloaded this autumn and winter. We’re one of the first lines of defence for them, so this wonderful package we now offer all new employees joining us is part of the many benefits our team members receive for being essential to the nation’s healthcare.”

Current staff and future employees receive a discount and reward card, which gives them access to exclusive discounts online and in-store from retailers including Tesco, Primark and Argos. The scheme also covers holidays and electrical goods.

Katie added: “Everyone on the team feels extremely well looked after as our company has its staff’s best interests at heart and wants to make sure we are all properly looked after inside and outside of work.

“And if the shopping scheme wasn’t enough, we also offer our new recruits a five-day training induction and a 12-week onboarding programme working towards a care certificate. We offer flexible working hours, both full and part-time, as well as competitive wages, and a generous holiday allocation.

“We’re committed to up-skilling our workforce and we’re working hard to dispel the myth that carers are not valued in the sector. Being a carer is a highly skilled, professional, vocational occupation that is essential to the fabric of our society.

“It is a great opportunity for people to achieve a recognised qualification and we give all our staff full paid additional training when they start and pay for their DBS and shadowing too.

“We offer career advancement opportunities that mean we have a highly trained, motivated and appreciated team. We have jobs available in the area now with immediate start, no experience necessary just a willingness to care and to learn.”

HomeLife delivers personalised home care supporting people wishing to stay living safely and comfortably in their own homes across Devon.

“Our support is not solely elderly care, we offer home care for adults of various abilities and our team puts people first by helping individuals live independently and providing peace of mind for families. Our service is also completely personalised and ranges from daily visits to respite and overnight care.”

HomeLife is looking to hire new carers to provide care to its service users this year and is offering flexible and supported learning for those wishing to advance their careers.

It is currently looking for 100 new honest and kind-hearted individuals to help add to its teams.

Katie adds: “We are keen to hear from anyone seeking employment who feels they have the right attributes for the job. This is a great opportunity for customer-facing individuals who may have recently lost their retail or hospitality role and are seeking work or who are after a complete career change.

“We’re offering those looking for a career in care, flexible contracts, as well as free, full training with the opportunity to achieve industry-wide qualifications.”

Katie and her team want to hear from kind, honest and reliable people who are considering making a career for themselves in the care industry and would like to find out more.

New recruits are given free uniforms, access to national staff discount scheme for many major brands, as well as 28 days paid holiday, paid travel between calls and paid mileage.
