Newton invests £120k on new production facility

Published: 12th July 2021 11:58

Tim Besley, Managing Director of Newton Print with its extended £120,000 production facility.

A LEADING Devon printed packaging company has invested £120,000 on extending its production facility to provide its customers with bespoke shorter print-runs for any printed packaging they may be planning (July 2021).

Newton Print Ltd in Newton Abbot now has a new custom-built addition to its production kit that has helped speed-up its processes, improving energy efficiency as well as benefiting clients.

Tim Besley, Managing Director says: “This extension and upgrade to our in-house facility now enables us to speed up our production of packaging especially sleeves, auto-lock and crash-lock boxes, single-line and multi-glued boxes, and wallets and pocket folders.

“It will allow us to complete jobs more quickly and improve delivery speeds. As well as giving our customers in the artisan and SME food and drink sector the benefit of being able to use us for shorter print-runs up to 250,000. They can now more easily trial products for particular events or showcase new flavours or have tailormade packaging for promotional activities such as competitions and limited editions.

“By improving the speed of our operation, we’re increasing efficiency and that in turn has a knock-on impact with regards to the energy we’re saving when producing our clients’ packaging requirements, which is great for everyone’s sustainability moving forward.”

Newton Print’s new digi-mollPAK System in-line folder/gluer is a versatile machine designed to offer fast, flexible performance when it comes to complex packaging jobs.

The friction feeder section offers a continuous feed for not just regular shaped packaging, but for irregular items as well.

“This gives us greater capacity and combined with faster set-up times, it puts us in a great position to accelerate delivery times and produce multiple versions or shorter-run special editions.”

As well as being able to save energy with its new kit, Newton Print can also boost clients’ eco-credentials through its carbon offset initiative.

“As official Carbon Balanced Printers we have our emissions offset by CarbonCO working with World Land Trust. Each year our planet-positive printed packaging helps preserve more than 44 acres of endangered forest, equivalent to 25 football pitches.

“We can also provide businesses with certificates to highlight the amount of CO2 balanced and the area of land they’ve helped protect while working with us.

“They can then pass all this on to their customers, who are increasingly interested in buying environmentally-sound products. This will help differentiate their items over and above the competition.”

Founded in 1983, Newton Print Ltd is an approachable, friendly, forward-thinking and carbon-balanced printed packaging firm that provides a collaborative approach to client partnerships based on traditional customer relationships, married with pioneering, innovative ideas, to create successful and sustainable results.

Benefitting from its own on-site production and inhouse creative expertise, Newton Print is a packaging mentor for SMEs. It aims to help demystify printed packaging to allow artisan brands to develop, succeed and grow.

It provides print runs of anything from 1,000-250,000. With a focus on beautiful, luxury, sustainable printed food packaging, including food sleeves. It is also able to offer short-term special edition print-runs – perfect for product testing, tailoring products to specific retailers or for bespoke promotions.

The hard-working, skilled team ensures its clients receive top-quality workmanship and ultra-fast delivery.

Ninety-seven per cent of its customers rate Newton Print with five stars on the independent review site Feefo for speed and exceeding expectations, while 98% have rated the team’s friendliness as five-star too.
