Somerset Chamber Choir bring best of British choral music to Taunton this February

Somerset Chamber Choir stages a concert of inspirational British music at King's College Chapel, Taunton on Sunday 17 February 2013 at 3pm.
Celebrating the centenary of Benjamin Britten's birth, the concert showcases an engaging selection of works by Britten alongside music by Elgar, Grainger, Parry, Stanford, Vaughan Williams & Walton.
Previous Taunton concerts by the choir have put the spotlight on music from America, France and, in 2012, Russia and the East, but 2013 is unashamedly British through and through.
Titled 'Great Britain - Great Britten!', the concert will include many works by Benjamin Britten in this his centenary year. Many of these may be new discoveries for some, including A.M.D.G (a collection of 7 delightful short choral works published after his death), and these will be performed along with music by other well-known British composers, such as Parry's 'My soul there is a country' in this exploration of Great British music.
Somerset Chamber Choir gratefully acknowledges the support of the Britten-Pears Foundation towards the staging of this concert.
Tickets are on sale now - available from Taunton TIC (01823 336344) or online at www.somersetchamberchoir.org.uk
