Flexible working is key to the future of care in Devon

DEVONIANS seeking a better work-life balance or who are unable to work full-time because they have other commitments would be ideal carers according to a leading care provider in the county (February 2020).
Guardian Homecare, which provides care across south Devon, says offering staff flexible working hours to fit around their other essential activities is vital.
Catherine Porter, Manager for the care provider, which operates in the Exeter and Torbay areas, said: “It’s not easy for people to find work that fits in with their lifestyles, so it’s up to 21st century employers like ourselves to offer flexibility that gives a good work-life balance.

“Where this kind of match between the person needing support and the carer can be made it also helps enormously with safety during the winter months, as locally based carers can almost always reach someone even in poor conditions such as heavy rain or snow.”
