Home care provider calls for more Devon carers in autumn run-up

Published: 1st September 2020 12:51

A LEADING home care provider is creating jobs for 100 new employees this month (September 2020) to help meet growing demand for its services in Devon as autumn approaches.

HomeLife Carers says it will be boosting its home carer numbers in Devon in the run-up to autumn as the cooler weather drives a greater need for its services.

Katie Jewell, Regional Manager for HomeLife Carers, which has offices in Barnstaple, Okehampton, Plymouth and Tiverton, said: “We’re fast approaching autumn and winter, which is our busiest time of the year because, as the temperatures drop and the night’s close in, elderly and vulnerable people in Devon need more help. As the weather turns, more and more people are at risk and those requiring live-in or homecare services rises, so we’re creating vacancies for 100 new carers in order to maintain our excellent levels of care.

“We’re looking for kind, honest, caring and reliable individuals to provide services across Devon, so anyone who believes they’re the right candidate for a position with us should get in touch.”

HomeLife is looking to hire new carers to provide care to its service users this year and is offering flexible and supported learning for those wishing to advance their careers.

“Being a carer is a highly skilled, professional vocational occupation that is essential to the fabric of our society. With a job for life like this, people can start at the very bottom and work their way up and we will offer them full training and access to industry-leading qualifications.”

Katie and her team want to hear from kind, honest and reliable people who are considering making a career for themselves in the care industry and would like to find out more.

Katie added: “No experience is necessary to become a carer, as free, full training is provided. We offer new recruits a five-day training induction and a 12-week on-boarding programme working towards a care certificate. We also offer flexible working hours, both full and part-time, as well as competitive wages and generous holiday allocation.

“It is a great opportunity for people to achieve a recognised qualification and they’ll also be able to have access to exclusive discounts online and in-store from retailers including Tesco, Primark and Argos. It also covers holidays and electrical goods.”

New recruits are given free uniforms, access to national staff discount scheme for many major brands, as well as 28 days paid holiday, paid travel between calls and paid mileage.
