Talbot Village Trust donates £150,000 to Lewis-Manning Hospice Care for relocation

Author: undefined Published: 8th June 2020 15:05

Talbot Village Trust recently donated £150,000 to Lewis-Manning Hospice to help with the relocation of their headquarters to Longfleet Road.

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is a Dorset charity dedicated to helping people cope with life-limiting illnesses and the changes they may bring.

Having identified a significant gap in end-of-life support services in the East Dorset and Purbeck area, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care decided to relocate their centre and Poole services to a more central Dorset location.

The charity believed the relocation was needed in order to better meet the needs of the many people they help. With the help of the donation from Talbot Village Trust, the charity bought new premises located on Longfleet Road, Poole. The new location will enable them to provide services to patients from a more convenient location within easy access of transport networks and closer to Poole Hospital.

Clare Gallie, CEO Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, said: "We are sincerely grateful to the Talbot Village Trust for their most generous and kind support of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and for believing in our vision for the future. This is a really important time for our charity, a time when we are hoping to reach out to new local people who need our help, inspire new local services and support for our charity. As we enter this exciting phase of development it is wonderful to have partners like the Talbot Village Trust working with us, helping us to deliver care for local people with life limiting illness, closer to home."

Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee at Talbot Village Trust, commented: "We understand how important the services Lewis-Manning offers is to the community and the people in need. Lewis-Manning has worked hard filling in the gap in end of life support services in East Dorset and we are very thrilled to have contributed to the improvement of our community. We look forward to seeing the new location and all the benefits it will bring once the refurbishments are completed."

Talbot Village Trust meets biannually and is accepting applications for funding from both previous and new applicants in the area before the Trustees meet in spring 2020. Please go to www.talbotvillagetrust.org for more information.
