Hi, as this is the first newsletter of the New Year we at Bridging Communities would like to wish you all a Happy New Year!
You may remember when we last wrote we told you about our celebration events and the launch of the Living Histories project. We are hoping that you as our Church in Community will support us in this.
In case you've forgotten Living Histories is an evolving project with the aim of celebrating Poole and its diversity through exploring its past, present and future as experienced by individuals within the community.
To this end we have volunteers who will happily come to community groups and individuals to record their memories of Poole Town and/or Hamworthy, their experience of Poole and /or Hamworthy now and their aspirations for Poole and Hamworthy in the Future. the conversation, or leave you to do it all for yourselves whichever you prefer.
If you or any of your neighbours like to tell stories of Poole, or you belong to a group which may like to host a Living Histories conversation? How about the Lunch Club, Crafty Haven or the Bible Study group?
We hope that through these conversations community members may bring forward pictures or objects to form a community exhibition which will coincide with the opening of the new community library being built during this year. We also hope that by working with the local schools there will be a time capsule incorporated into the new Community Library, and the young people will be able to tell us of their experiences too.
Thinking about young people, half term is coming up and so to is the next Fun4Kids Spot. So if you have any contact with those who have children or young people or you find your self at a loose end and feel able to help out then join us on the Tuesday, the 17th of February, between 11.00am-3.00pm and enjoy family fun activities on offer.
We hope to have artist's helping you all make embossed spring cards, which could be used for Mother's day, and masks. The children's centre will be there offering play and craft activities suitable for those under 7. We also hope to have the Resound bus, various sports and this time some sort of environmental activity.
It would be great to see you there so if you want to know more about this or would like to volunteer to be part of the Living Histories Project then don't hesitate to contact me on 07908110121 Best Wishes Alison.
