Hi all by the time you read this Easter will have been and gone, but as you are probably aware I'm actually writing this during Holy Week.
The sun is shinning, the birds are singing and as I look out of the windows I see all sorts of beautiful flowers, daffodils, primroses, hyacinths. It really feels like springtime and the Easter message of new life surrounds me, but hopefully as you read this you will actually be thinking more May Day and May holidays. So let me tell you about a couple of events that are happening during May linked to your Church Related Community Development Work Project, Bridging Communities.
On the 13th of May from 12.00-2.00pm Bridging Communities is hosting our second SHOUT OUT! This is a chance for anyone who has any links with the regeneration area to get your voices heard. That is anyone who lives, works, shops, or visits Poole Town or Lower Hamworthy come along and tell us what you think around issues linked to the plans for the area. Last time we talked about facilities for children and young people, how we can help to develop a community voice and how we can help new community group's form. This time we will feed back relevant information related to our discussion. We hope the Resound Christian Youth Bus will be therefore people to hear a little about its work. This project is currently working across one of the new developments, Poole Quarter at this time.
During the second Shout Out, we hope to discuss community involvement in the new Hamworthy Community Library, community involvement with the Safer Neighbourhood Team and perhaps St Michael's involvement with the community in this it's 50th anniversary year. Our next Shout Out will be back in Poole Town probably during September, so we like to see you at one of these events.
Then during half term there will be another Fun4Kids Spots, we've told you about these events before. These are family fun events held across the regeneration area, totally free with lots of fun activities for children and young people to enjoy with their carers. This time we are on the patch of grass next to Asda, West Quay Rd, between 11.00am-3.00pm.
We've already booked artists to run a soapstone jewellery workshop, a clay workshop, a drumming circle workshop, an under 7's music and movement workshop, an environmental workshop, Dorset Scrapstore will be doing creative things with scrap too. There will also be under 7's play and craft activities, a water themed assault course organised by the play rangers, and we will be welcoming the Resound Bus and the Media Machine!
So if you think you're children and young people may be bored by then come and join us! If you want to ask anything about either of these events, please don't hesitate to give me a ring on 07908110121,
Best Wishes Alison Dalton.
