Westover Jaguar Land Rover Military Sales supports Paul Edwards MBE in 135km charity solo run

Published: 17th August 2018 13:08

Westover Group, one of the south's largest privately-owned motoring groups, has announced its support for Paul Edwards MBE in his 135km solo fundraising run.

Paul spent 35 years in the British Army as an Infantry Officer and later as an Army Aviator. He was appointed MBE in 1995 for command on operations. Paul is set to run from the west coast to the east coast of Britain along the Hadrian's Wall trail. His aim is to raise £10,000 towards restoring the Museum of Army Flying in Middle Wallop, Hampshire.

Westover Jaguar Land Rover is donating the use of a Land Rover Discovery Sport to assist in the run which takes place from September 10 - 13. Mark Whittam, group operations director at Westover Group, says: "We jumped at the chance of being involved in such an incredible personal challenge for Paul and we wish him the best of luck.

"The museum plays an important role in preserving history which is relevant to all of us and has exhibits on major UK conflicts of the last century. Westover has a longstanding history of supporting the UK's military personnel and we actively provide special rates to those who are serving or are retired from the army."
Paul added: "I'm delighted with the support given by Westover Jaguar Land Rover. The use of the vehicle for my run means that I can be fully supported throughout the challenge. I've been training for more than six weeks now and I run around 120km a week. I'm hoping to be able to raise as many funds as possible towards the much needed renovation and redevelopment of the museum."

The museum is hoping to raise a further £100,000 urgently required to complete Phase 2 of Project Eagle, which includes refurbishment of the building. It recently unveiled a memorial to fallen servicemen and women, where families and visitors can honour the sacrifices made by members of the Army Air Corps and their forebears, the Royal Flying Corps.

Established in 1923, Westover Group operates from 28 locations across Dorset and Wiltshire and its Land Rover dealerships are located in Salisbury and Christchurch.
