Talbot Village Trust helps infant school renovate its outdoor learning space

Talbot Village Trust has donated more than £5,000 to Mudeford Community Infants School towards the development of an outside learning area, that can be used as part of the pupils' daily curriculum.

The grant giving charity, Talbot Village Trust, provided Mudeford Community Infants School with funding to cover the cost of materials that were used by staff, parents and volunteers from the local community to create a pond and wildlife garden, a sensory quiet zone, a surfaced sports area and an undercover classroom space.

The infant school has also been able to develop the playground into an engaging and exciting area for the Reception children. As a result, the children are now able to play in a safe outside space. New resources such as sand and water trays, a willow hide out and a story seat have also been purchased for the children to enjoy.

Carly Butler, Deputy Headteacher of Mudeford Community Infants School, said: "We are so thrilled with the new outside space that we are now able to offer to our children in Reception. They can now fully access curriculum opportunities in an environment that is both exciting and stimulating. We are continuing to work hard to complete the Reception and Year one area and are excited by the new facilities available for the children at Mudeford Community Infants School."

Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee of Talbot Village Trust, added: "We understand how important it is that children enjoy learning and utilise their resources. We take great pride in the fact that there is a notable difference in the children's attitude since the new outdoor development has been introduced. We look forward to hearing more about the children's enhance learning."

Talbot Village Trust meets biannually and is accepting applications for funding from both previous and new applicants in the area before the Trustees meet in spring 2020. Please go to www.talbotvillagetrust.org for more information.
