Copper Street Brewery named as Brewery Square’s first Business of the Month

Published: 18th September 2019 13:04

Brewery Square in Dorchester has rolled out its latest project, Business of the Month. Each month, the development located in Dorchester will be focusing on one of its businesses, to raise awareness of the wide range on offer at Brewery Square; September's business is Copper Street Brewery.

Originally named King Alfred's Ales and based in North Dorset, owners Ann and Anthony Buckton rebranded the brewery to coincide with its first retail presence in Dorset.

Anthony Buckton, owner of Copper Street Brewery, said: "Dorchester's Eldridge Pope site is an excellent location for our venture. The town's brewing history has ingrained a deep appreciation of good quality ales which complements our mission to provide a hub for great ales, both local and national. We provide a unique shopping experience, including the ability to watch the brewing and chat about the process."

Copper Street Brewery's ales pay tribute to the Saxon heritage of the local area. The popular signature malty bitter, ‘871', sits alongside a quality range of ales from the hoppy golden "Saxon Gold" to the smooth, rich award-winning vanilla porter "Dark Ages."

As well as having the brewery operating at the back of the store, Copper Street Brewery also has a bottle shop at the front of the unit for people to buy ales brewed in store. The business also stocks a wide range of ales from small, independent breweries across the country.

Charlotte Spracklen, centre manager at Brewery Square, added: "We're rolling out our Business of the Month scheme to focus on the many businesses we have become home to. We are thrilled to be starting with Copper Street Brewery, who are a relatively new addition to the centre. The team at Copper Street Brewery are so friendly, and their ales are delicious!"

Situated at 8 Copper Street, opposite Dorchester South train station, the brewery is open from 10am until 6pm Tuesday to Friday, and 10am until 5pm on Saturdays. To find out more information about Copper Street Brewery head to the Brewery Square Facebook page.
