Superior hits £200K fundraising milestone for Julia’s House

Author: Online Stories Published: 17th December 2020 13:52

The leading Dorset-based manufacturer, Superior, has ended the year on a high by reaching £200,000 raised for its charity partner, Julia's House.

Superior has supported Julia's House children's hospices since 2008 and in this year alone, despite not being able to fundraise in the usual manner due to the current pandemic, the business has donated just under £27,000 to ensure it hits the £200K milestone before the end of the year.

Martin Edwards, Chief Executive of Julia's House, said: "It has been a year like no other, particularly for the children and families Julia's House supports, who have often felt fearful and isolated during lockdown. We've been caring throughout the pandemic and this has only been possible because our supporters have been with us, still fundraising and still donating.

"We could not be more grateful to Tim and all the team at Superior for their huge support this year. The team has made a huge difference to the families that need us now more than ever - they have all changed lives in 2020."

The Superior team has taken on a range of fundraising challenges over the years including charity bike rides, Tough Mudder, hikes and Katie Bodman, Head of Academy at Superior, trekked the Great Wall of China. More recently, Tim Brown, Managing Director of Superior, completed two hours of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) back in March, alongside other business leaders from across the region.

Tim explained: "We have remained committed to supporting Julia's House as a company through a difficult and challenging year for many. We are proud to have been there for the team when they needed it most, and are continually amazed by their hard work and determination to still deliver their vital services across the county."

Superior is a family-owned, Dorset-based manufacturer of high integrity o-rings and seals, with its own company-run apprenticeship training academy and engineering workshop. Tim Brown was invited to be an ambassador of Julia's House in June, due to the longstanding partnership between Superior and the charity.

In addition to the business' fundraising for Julia's House, Superior has also recently donated £3,050 to the Dorset Community Foundation through ‘The Big Give' match funding initiative.

Tim added: "Our local charities and communities are going to need wider support as the devastating impact of the pandemic will inevitably continue into the new year. We will remain committed to Julia's House into 2021 and beyond, and we hope to be able to resume our usual fundraising activities for the charity."
