A morning of free advice from leading law firm

Published: 18th April 2019 10:30

Humphries Kirk is hosting a Later Life Conference at Hallmark Hotel Carlton in Bournemouth from 9.30am until 1pm on Thursday 2 May.

With talks throughout the morning covering a variety of topics, there will also be the chance to speak to members of Humphries Kirk's private client team. All attendees are welcome and free refreshments will be available.

The morning will be introduced by joint head of department Adam Scott at 9.30am. Topics on the day are as follows:

• Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) and Advance Decisions - hosted by associate solicitor Kelly Payne about how an LPA can help, why they are important and what particular circumstances will require one.

• Attorney duties - hosted by joint head of department Laura Staples, this session will explain what duties an Attorney will need to undertake once appointed.

• Deputyships and the Court of Protection - Chris Keenan, partner, will explain how someone's affairs can be managed under court supervision where no LPA has been made.

• Statutory Wills - the morning's final session will come from Simon Cross, partner, explaining what happens when a Will needs to be made but that person no longer has the capacity to do so.

Adam Scott, partner and join head of department in Humphries Kirk's Bournemouth office, commented: "Many are unsure when or why an LPA is required, so we are running a free morning session to talk to the public about LPAs and to explain the legal duties of an Attorney, as well as giving an overview of the Court of Protection and issues that can arise for people lacking mental capacity. We hope these sessions will be of great value to those who attend and our experts are on hand for any advice and guidance that may be required."

Those interested in attending can RSVP to Stephanie Cook on s.cook@hklaw.eu or visit http://www.hklaw.eu/hk-events to find out more details.
