Bournemouth & Poole College receives national recognition for apprenticeships

Author: undefined Published: 12th June 2020 15:01

Bournemouth & Poole College has ranked number 11 out of 162 colleges across the country in the Department for Education's National Achievement Rate Tables for its apprenticeships.

Produced annually, the latest figures cover education and training for 16 to 18 years olds in the academic year of 2018 to 2019.

Antony Carr, Director of Apprenticeships at the College, said: "We are incredibly proud of all our staff and apprentices that have contributed to these amazing results. I'm fortunate to work with such a fantastic team that are so expert in taking an individual and guiding them into a new career."

A further breakdown has been provided for the College's courses, with the achievement rate for digital marketing and electrical apprenticeships both taking a number one position across all further education providers in the UK.

Engineering manufacture apprenticeships received a top four position in the league table out of 134 educations providers. Hairdressing was ranked top three out of 125, with automotive apprenticeships receiving eighth position out of 126 and plumbing ninth out of 125.

The College is the largest provider of further education and apprenticeships in the county and works with businesses across Dorset and the surrounding areas to deliver over 30 different apprenticeships. With Intermediate (Level 2), Advanced (Level 3), Higher (Foundation Degree Level) and Degree apprenticeships on offer in nine different sectors including catering and hospitality, social media and electronics, there are a range of courses to suit most interests.

Ed Holbrook,34, is the first level 6 manufacturing engineer degree apprentice to complete his course that is run in partnership with Cobham and Bournemouth University. He said: "My apprenticeship provided me with a great opportunity to align with industry recognised standards, not just in the classroom, but also within the workplace. By completing an End Point Assessment, vocational, academic and behavioural skillsets were solidified, and I gained an accreditation from an industry recognised authority. This not only has a significant benefit for me as an individual to validate occupational competency, but also supports the organisation that I am working for."

Applications for all courses and apprenticeships remain unaffected in the current circumstances and can be made online through the website. For more information please visit www.thecollege.co.uk/apprenticeships.
