Healthcare assistant at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital gains qualification

Continuous investment in staff training is of paramount importance to Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, and it is proud to announce that healthcare assistant, Yolanda Miguell-Adell, has completed her Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
To support the delivery of first-class clinical care under the supervision of qualified healthcare professionals, Yolanda plays a vital part as a healthcare assistant in the hospital's nursing team to deliver hands-on care to patients. This includes supporting patients with personal care, understanding and recording a patient's temperature, breathing and pulse as well as spending time talking to patients and making sure they are comfortable.
By gaining this qualification, through a mix of practical and theoretical work-based learning over 12 months, Yolanda has increased her health and social care knowledge by gaining a more in-depth understanding of medical conditions, the principles of implementing duty of care, how to prevent infection and how to support in the delivery of person-centred care.
Yolanda says: "I'm delighted to have completed this qualification to improve my skills. The qualification has equipped me with increased skills and knowledge that I need to administer high-quality, safe and compassionate care in this rewarding career. I was inspired to complete the course because I want to deliver the best care to my patient's and support the staff that I work with. Having completed previous HCA training in Spain and my NVQ Level 2 in the UK I wanted a new challenge."
Yolanda continues: "My aim now is to become a senior healthcare assistant and to share my knowledge and help the development of other staff members. This gives the patient a safe and enjoyable experience plus provides new staff members the skills and knowledge to do this and be proud and happy in their work."
Roz Scammell, mentor at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital, adds: "Huge congratulations to Yolanda for receiving this qualification, a great achievement. Yolanda has been a dedicated member of the hospital's nursing team for 16 years and as an integral part of the team this qualification will help her to progress in the clinical field."
