Eataly Set to Open a Massive Food Hall in London this Year

Published: 11th February 2020 16:50

Finally! After a long wait, Londoners will get to have their own Eataly!

Finally! After a long wait, Londoners will get to have their own Eataly! It will be the first food hall of its kind in the United Kingdom, and what better place than London. Despite Brexit, many businesses and events are going ahead as usual. As of writing this article, London just concluded the world's largest online casino and betting event "ICE", which welcomed a record-breaking 40,000+ attendees from all over the world. Celebrities and icons from far and near attended the event. For example, this STS casino review shows that the legendary Manchester United and Denmark goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel has been the brand ambassador of Poland's largest sports betting brand since last year. He and many other superstars were present to meet and talk with guests at London's ICE 2020. The post-Brexit economic importance of events like this for London, is extremely valuable.

The Most Grande Italian Food Emporium

The Eataly chain was founded in Turin, Italy in 2007. Nowadays, with over 40 stores worldwide, 14 stores alone in Italy, it has long since expanded its sales network beyond European borders. In America, Eataly is popular in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. But it has also expanded its reach into Moscow, Tokyo, Monaco and more. Oscar Farinetti has planned many other important openings such as Las Vegas, Paris, Toronto… and London! With the recent opening of German-owned Lidl in London too, Londoners are getting spoilt for choice. But, Eataly is incomparable with anything we've ever seen - if you enjoy Italian food that is (Who doesn't?).

What can we expect from Eataly?

The best Italian restaurants, bars and products like pasta, cured meats, cheeses, olive oil, sauces but also typical sweets, coffee, ravioli, bread, ice cream, and more. All the best of Italian gastronomy and traditions, available in a single store, where you can savour the tastiest and most delicious delicacies. Eataly London is the place to shop at, when cooking special dishes and recipes at home that will really leave a mark among your guests. Obviously, there will also be a large selection of wines. For those wishing to learn all about Italian food and cuisine, you can participate in cooking lessons in various courses and workshops at the production laboratories and cooking schools. If you are in a hurry and don't have time to cook at home, you can stop in the bar and restaurant to purchase only the freshest products sold in Eataly.

London's Eataly will be housed on 42,000 sq. ft of land, at 135 Bishopsgate, Broadgate, right near Liverpool Street Station, accessible from both Bishopgate and Exchange Square. With £25mn being invested, it will be the largest Italian marketplace in the world and the largest food hall in the United Kingdom. We don't know the official opening date, but what we do know is that it will open this year. We're nearly there; hang in there.

More About Broadgate? Where and What is it?

With inspiration from piazzas around Europe, Broadgate is a massive pedestrian-only area in Central London. One of the largest in the UK and the biggest in the capital city. Just like we discussed earlier, Broadgate has become a central hub for all of Europe's top investment and tech companies – Post-Brexit possibilities and opportunities are actually thriving. Some of London's best food and drink, retail, leisure and entertainment are all amongst Broadgate's 1.2 million sq. ft location. There is another 4 million sq. ft of shops and restaurants plus 4.5 acres of public space. If that isn't enough, it has a new Crossrail station with £1.5bn of investment being poured in.
