The Essex Arrows Baseball Club will be holding open tryouts for its National League team on Sunday 10th  March 2013 from 10:30am-1:00pm at Townmead Sports & Leisure Park, Brooker Road, Waltham Abbey, Essex, EN9 1JH.

One of the oldest teams in the country, the Essex Arrows joined the British Baseball Federation back in 1984 and steadily rose to the highest division in the country and in the process contributed to the GB squad by developing youth and senior team players, some of who still play for the club today.

With nearly thirty years experience in the Club, the Essex Arrows is perfectly placed to recruit and further develop young players to compete and win at the highest level, whether it be in the UK or abroad.

The Essex Arrows Baseball Club is well connected in the community with support from both the local and district councils that have shown their commitment over the life of the club by helping to fund and develop the organisation.  Today this support network is at the forefront of taking the Essex Arrows to the next level which includes the ongoing project of creating one of the best baseball fields in the country and supporting the progress of club members in attaining the coaching qualifications and volunteer support required to grow the Club.

There are also plenty of opportunities within the Essex Arrows Baseball Club for aspiring coaches to be paid to teach baseball in the local schools as well as at the field by joining the growing youth development programme.

The Essex Arrows Baseball Club is a youthful, fun and very ambitious club with a rich history in British baseball.  One of the only clubs in the country to have permanent brick dugouts, bleacher seating, a dirt infield apron and a fully enclosed field.  With the construction project in its third phase, there are plans to further improve the field during the 2013 season with funding bids currently being processed.

Essex Arrow's new manager, Steve Simmons, won three National League titles with the Enfield Spartans in the 1990's and also played for the senior GB squad, touring Europe with some of the best players this country has ever produced.  Steve brings that experience to club and knows what it is going to take to make the Arrows a successful National League team, while at the same time embracing the great club atmosphere that exists between The Arrows, The Archers and The Atoms.  The Arrows is not just about one team, it is also about club and community.

The Club wants committed individuals that possess the dedication and drive to develop their game as individuals and as part of a team, on and off the field.

Directions by Train: The field is a 15 minute walk from Waltham Cross Rail Station, which is 20 minutes from Liverpool Street Station (Central Line tube). Turn right out of the exit from Waltham Cross Station walk up the steps to the main road, turn right and walk towards Waltham Abbey Town Centre, then turn right again at Meridian Way (by McDonalds) and the field is a few hundred metres up on the left hand side.

Directions by Car - If driving Sav Nav Postcode EN9 1JH, the entrance is at the other side of town from the walking entrance, off of Sewardstone Road turn at the junction with Nissan and Lidl on the corner into Cartersfield Road which leads into Brooker Road. There is a small car park on-site.

Waltham Abbey is going to be a very exciting place to be over the next few years so if you want to be part of it, come along on to the tryouts on 10th March 2013.  We look forward to seeing you.
