Local businessman from Towcester, Tony McMurray, set off for Russia on 25th August 2018 as he tries to climb to the top of Europe in aid of his two charities.

Ten days later - the results.

Tony McMurray said:

"Day 10: Summit Bid Day

We woke at 12.30am and after breakfast we left 3,700m for what was going to be a long day... once further up the mountain it was still dark and sub zero temp as we snaked our way traversing between two mountain ridges on the freshly dropped snow across steep ground... what I thankfully could not see in the dark was the large drop below but would see it coming down later in the day.. as the sun came up at 5.30am we started on the ropes as we climbed higher.. (best not mention the near disaster fall I had on the rope but it all ended well). My fatigue started to set in as the sun came up and the impact of Oxygen deficit but the 4 brits and 1 Canadian pushed on for the summit...

At 9.18am I emotionally arrived at the Summit of Mount Elbrus... I left a picture of my mum and reflected on all those impacted by my two chosen charities this year

I often use a quote from Walt a Disney ‘if you can dream it you can do it’....I dreamt of climbing Europe’s highest mountain... and I just did it...

Tony’s main aim as always is to raise as much funds as possible and create awareness for his two charities for whom he will split his fund 50:50.
