"The Therapy Rooms" are Open for Business in Hornsea

You may not have noticed but a new business has recently opened on Hornsea's main street, Newbegin. This could be because the business premises occupy a set-back location in a row of period houses that are somewhat secluded from the usual hustle-and-bustle of a high street. Speak to the owner of "The Therapy Rooms", Gill Ridley and she will tell you that this is exactly the way she wanted it to be.

Outside view of The Therapy Rooms on Newbegin in Hornsea Gill describes 'The Therapy Rooms' as an "Oasis of Tranquility in the heart of Hornsea" and, for the holistic therapy treatments that are on offer such as Reflexolgy, Therapeutic Massage and Holistic Facial Rejuvination therapies, this is just the ambience that she wants The Therapy Rooms to deliver.

The Therapy Rooms are not only a new addition to the Hornsea offering but are a unique new offering. The first to provide such a range of relaxation and holistic Therapies right on the high street next to both the shops and Hornsea Primary and Nursery Schools.

The Therapy Rooms are located on the upper floor of 96, Newbegin. Not only has Gill created her own therapy room but she has also created another two studios which are currently occupied by Helen Gray of "Yes To Yoga" and Kay Kent who provides Reiki Therapies and dietary, nutrition and weight-management advice.

We caught-up with Gill and asked her how the idea of The Therapy Rooms came about:

"During the years spent being 'mum' and watching my children grow-up, I always knew that there was something more that I could, and wanted to do. I put myself through several years of college whilst my children were at school and gained NVQ qualifications in Business Administration. This led to a period of 'temping' at various businesses across the East Riding and, as my children grew older, I moved onto a permanent job at Chemdry in Beverley. However, I still knew that I really wanted to do something for myself and therefore I followed my instincts, took myself back off to college and gained qualifications in Swedish Massage, then in Reflexology picking up certificates in Anatomy & Physiology and Pathology along the way. I then started to work from home and this was something that I loved doing. I took in more courses and learnt additional skills and treatments but I always felt that it would be even better if I had business premises of my own.

Several possibilities came and went but the instant that I opened the door to the first floor flat at 96 Newbegin, I knew at once that this was "the place".

That moment proved only to be the start, and not the end of the journey.

Our premises on Newbegin needed an awful lot of work to meet the standards that I would expect if I were to visit any therapy rooms for a treatment. What happened next was a total renovation process that took several months to complete. I am pleased to say that we acheived this using only local tradesmen plus a little input and hard work from ourselves.
