Hornsea C.P. School Creative Context week - New Zealand (The Haka)
Each year, prior to summer half term, Hornsea Community Primary School holds it's "Creative Context" week.
During Creative Context week, the children exchange both classmates and teachers and experience learning in a new and exciting environment.
Creative Context weeks always have a special theme and the theme this year was learning about other countries through the arts.

The work involves learning about other cultures through music, dance, drama, art, sculpture and cooking.
During the week some lucky groups get to go on field trips connected to the country that they are studying whilst others get to work with different artists or natives of the country. All children get to partake of free fruit every morning!

The week culminates on Friday afternoon.
Firstly, parents are invited to the classrooms to see what the children have been doing and learning all week and are encouraged to join-in.
Finally, depending upon the weather, there is an open-air concert on the Key Stage 1 Playground where the children get to showcase some of the dance, drama and musical work undertaken during the week.
Hornsea C.P. School Creative Context week - Caribbean
Highlights of this years concert included a rousing rendition of ABBA's 'Dancing Queen' which had everyone dancing in the aisles (figuratively speaking!) and a Caribbean finale during which the performers ran out and grabbed parents and teachers alike and ended with one huge Calypso with everyone dancing on the playground together.
The kids had a great, interesting and informative week and the parents all needed a well-earned rest after Friday afternoons exertions!
