Project Solar UK, the nation's leading installer and retailer of solar panels, has conducted research in Brighton to uncover how residents have traditionally prepared their homes for the winter season. The findings reveal that Brighton residents are indeed exceptional planners, demonstrating their readiness for the chilly months ahead. As energy prices hit the headlines, attention is turning to this year's bills and how to adapt at home to help save money.
Among the various proactive measures taken by Brighton residents aged 25-70 in preparing for winter, 43% of respondents highlighted the importance of bleeding radiators and ensuring they are working well. Twenty nine per cent emphasised the significance of checking boiler pressure and scheduling servicing, while 54% opted for warmer duvets and had blankets at the ready to combat cold bursts. Other measures adopted by people in Brighton included clearing gutters (21%), weatherproofing gardens (29%), draughtproofing windows and doors (39%), insulation checks (29%), plant care (7%), roof maintenance (11%), and the installation of solar panels (4%).
CEO of Project Solar UK, Simon Peat, commends Brighton residents for their preparedness for winter, saying, "Our research showed that Brighton residents put thought into planning and organisation when it comes to winter preparations. It's inspiring to see such a high percentage taking steps to ensure a comfortable and energy-efficient winter. As the coldest season approaches, it's crucial to consider renewable energy sources like solar panels. Even in the colder months, solar panels can significantly reduce energy costs and minimise the environmental impact of heating your home."
Simon also emphasises the importance of Project Solar UK's commitment to providing valuable resources to Brighton residents, saying, "We understand the challenges that winter can bring, especially when it comes to energy bills. Last winter, 75% of Brighton residents aged 25-70 struggled financially as a result of paying their energy bills, and 86%1 are worried about the bills for this winter. To help our community, we have created a free guide filled with hacks and tips on preparing your home for winter. This guide is available on the Project Solar UK website, helping people in Brighton to stay warm and comfortable in as cost-effective way as possible."
Solar panels not only help reduce energy costs but also contribute to a sustainable future. By harnessing the power of the sun, even in the winter months, homeowners can generate clean and renewable electricity, reducing their carbon footprint and dependence on traditional energy sources.
