Builder funds festive celebrations for Great Leighs youth football team

Christmas has come early for a Chelmsford football youth football club after being handed a £1,000 cash donation.
Great Leighs Youth Football Club applied for the funding as part of Persimmon Homes Essex's Community Champion scheme.
The initiative is a national programme where clubs, groups and good causes can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
The small village club was established just over two years ago by husband and wife duo Amanda and Paul Dodd. The pair applied to the initiative to fund an end of year event celebrating the club's success. The money will also be used to purchase new kit and equipment for the new year.
Amanda said: "We do lots of events and tournaments to raise money - it's great to see a big company such as Persimmon backing a small village football club.
"Fundraising is crucial to help reduce costs for parents. As a club, we make sure each child has a full kit and training kit as well as new equipment.
"Like many clubs, we are run by volunteers and therefore donations such as this are vital."
