I am a freelance photographer based in Bicknacre, between Chelmsford and Maldon, Essex and carry out both commissioned and speculative work and currently undertake a range of photographic commissions for local business and individuals in the Chelmsford and Maldon districts. My commissioned work includes commercial work in such areas as, documentary, editorial, marketing, and corporate events, as well as photos for display and for personal use. My speculative work is largely based on my academic interests in Environmental and Earth sciences, particularly meteorological and landscape processes and impacts.
Although my interest in photography is lifelong I only really started working freelance in the last year. My first commissions were for equestrian centres and individual horse and rider portraits. Currently I am very involved with local businesses and have undertaken a number of photographic jobs for corporate and business events.
Photos Restoration

One of my specialist photographic services is digital photographic restoration. Old photographs are copied on a high resolution scanner and any number of defects can be eliminated. Examples of damage that can be repaired are scratches, stains, creases, tone restoration and removing of unwanted objects. In some cases colouring and colour restoration of old photographs can be undertaken. Digital photo restoration can provide the opportunity to restore a photograph to it's former glory whilst allowing the original to remain unaltered. Other than the initial scan, the original print is not touched and all of the restoration processes are done using computer based software. Digital restoration has a potentially unlimited life since additional prints from the digital restoration file can be printed again if any damage occurs to the original restored print

Digital photo restoration is very time consuming, when done at a professional level, and therefore is not always cheap. However, the transformation of an old faded and damaged photograph can be dramatic and bring out the true character of what the original photographer set out to achieve in the first place.

Photo restoration is about restoring a photograph to it's original condition, rather than creating something new. However, in some cases the restored photograph may actually be better than the original since photographic editing and printing techniques are much better. Even if family history is not of particular interest to you, old photographs nevertheless represent a social history of our lives and you can still benefit from rescuing those photographs from languishing in such places as old shoe boxes and backs of cupboards.

With modern digital technology and the right expertise they can be brought to life and again be shared with friends and family.
