Monday 1st July 2013 saw the successful launch of "Waltham Abbey Writers" (WAW) a new group formed by three local authors Jean Fullerton, Tracey Rolfe and Victoria Robertson, who met at the Art, Crafts & Literature Festival held in April organised by Waltham Abbey Town Partnership.
Although the launch evening went very well and the venue and staff at The Wheatsheaf pub were lovely and accommodating, it was agreed by all that it would not be suitable if we wish to run a creative writing workshop or for reading and reviewing each other's writing projects in progress.
So the hunt was on for a new location that offered a local, reasonably priced private room for our monthly meetings. Upshire Village Hall fit all the criteria and thanks to new writers' group member Olive the room has been booked for a very reasonable price.
It was agreed to pay £3 per month, irrespective of whether you could make every meeting, so that the cost of the room would be covered and any remaining funds could go towards a "social" night at Christmas.
Are you a Waltham Abbey writer? Have you published a book, do you write for pleasure or are you thinking about writing and would like some advice and support from other authors? Then the Waltham Abbey Writers (WAW) could be for you, meeting on the first Monday of every month from 7.30-10.00pm.
Waltham Abbey Writers Group Founding Authors
Jean Fullerton recently moved to Upshire in Waltham Abbey and is a well known writer of romantic historical novels set in East End of London. Her latest novel released in May "Call Nurse Millie" is proving to be another great success.

Tracey Rolfe is a well known local children's author of "The White Witch of Spiton" and there are strong similarities between her fictional Spiton and her home town of Waltham Abbey. There are four books in the series and she is currently working on the fifth.
For more information on Tracey please see her website: http://www.thewhitewitchofspiton.com/
Victoria Robertson wrote her first book "Swimming through the reeds" and her self help book is proving very popular in this country and abroad. She has recently returned from the International Algarve Book Fair in Portugal.

The three founding member authors have very different styles of writing and genre of books, so can offer a wealth of knowledge and experience in the literary field.
They have found it really useful to meet each other as the life of a writer can be a solitary one a lot of the time, so they are looking forward to meeting other local writers and sharing their knowledge and offering each other and new members support, advice and encouragement.
If you would like to join, just come down to the next meeting on Monday 5th August 2013 at Upshire Village Hall, please note there are other groups meeting in the same venue, Waltham Abbey Writers Group will be in the small room next to the stage area. Free parking available.
Please bring a piece of your writing to share with other members.
