New in Town!

Paul has been doing too much pondering and too little writing! But that's not because of idleness, far from it.
What has been happening is the creation and development of the Waltham Abbey 'Link4Growth' organisation.
And what is that exactly? Well, sit back and all will be revealed.....................
Everywhere we look there are financial problems. We look to our elected (and non elected) leaders to sort out the mess. Now that is ok as far as it goes, but they can only have ideas and create schemes and legislation, but 'they' can't actually do the doing!
The doing has to be done by us. That's you and me. But what can we do? What effect can we have?
That's where L4G comes in. There are already very many Business Network meetings and organisations to be found nationwide. They are an opportunity for businesses to meet together and 'pitch' their wares. They play an important role in business development.
Then there are Community groups doing their bit in their particular area of interest, and those performing public /civic services, as well as educationalists and those caring for our general wellbeing, both physical and spiritual. In fact there is a whole range of people 'out there' doing their thing and working hard to achieve it.
Now imagine ALL of those businesses and groups having the opportunity to meet together. They speak, they listen, they learn, they become interested in what is being done in and around their area, they get to know people with whom they would not normally come into contact.
New business is transacted because new customers are met, and new interests are created and nurtured. And the result? Everyone benefits! And there we have the reason for the existence of L4G.
The Community benefits. The Community grows. And with similar groups meeting across the UK, the Nation benefits and grows. And there's more, but that can wait until another time.
So, L4G is an opportunity for us ALL to do our bit, and at effectively no cost! Coming to our regular monthly gatherings costs £3. That's to pay for light refreshments, and that's it. Nothing else. Just a couple of hours of your time (or less if you need to get away) once a month and you can genuinely make a difference.
We meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 9.30am (the next meeting being on 6th February) at the Waltham Abbey Marriot Hotel, Old Shire Lane, Waltham Abbey, EN9 3LX - on the mezzanine floor.
If you have not already been along to one or more of the three meetings we've had so far, why not make February the month that you sample L4G, and find out about all that it is doing around the country, to make things better!
On the website, find Wed 6th Feb on the right of the page. Click on Waltham Abbey and book in. Even a meerkat could manage it!
As my strapline for 2013 asks "If you don't do it, who will?"
