‘Tea for Two’ with Westfield School at Brewery Square

Published: 17th July 2018 10:23

Students from Westfield Arts College are celebrating the launch of their silent movie ‘Tea for Two' by serving free cream teas in Brewery Square, Dorchester, on Wednesday, July 18.

The film, inspired by Charlie Chaplin's The Immigrant (1917), is set in 1918 and tells the story of two couples taking tea on Weymouth seafront who attract the unwanted attentions of a flirtatious waiter. It has been created as part of the students' Silver Arts Award.

Artists Sharon Hayden and Alastair Nisbet, from arts organisation ScreenPLAY, have been working with the students since the beginning of the year.

On creating the project Sharon commented: "Westfield students have a unique approach to life and we have really enjoyed working with them. Hopefully the teamwork, leadership and filmmaking skills they have developed will help them on the next step of their journey. We are especially grateful to funders Trinity College, London, and the Dorchester Market Car Boot Fund without whom this project would not have been possible."

Clips from the film will be shown every 30 minutes throughout the day and complimentary cream teas will be served between 11am and 1pm. The team will be collecting donations for Kestrel Enterprise, the sixth form at Westfield School.

Charlotte Spracklen, centre manager at Brewery Square, said: "The student film produced at Westfield School is fantastic, we're really proud to be able to showcase it to all our residents and shoppers. Alastair and Sharon have worked so hard to make this happen and we'll certainly be viewing it while enjoying a cream tea!"

The offering at Brewery Square includes Belle Modelle, Woods Furniture, Thomas J William, The Highbrow Clinic, Pizza Express, Hendover Café, Nandos, The Deli Kitchen and Costa Coffee. Visit www.brewerysquare.com for more information about Brewery Square.
