Haskins Garden Centre brings the community together with postcards of kindness

Haskins Garden Centre in West End has launched its Postcards of Kindness campaign, which has encouraged children from Tanners Brook Primary School to design their own special Christmas message for the patients of Countess Mountbatten Hospice, and the residents of the centre's neighbours, Speedwell Court Care Home.

Pupils from Tanners Brook Primary School hand-crafted more than 180 postcards for the patients of Countess Mountbatten Hospice and the residents of Speedwell Court Care Home, to bring them a personalised festive message this Christmas.

As a thank you for taking the time to decorate the postcards for the patients, the school received a donation of more than 180 cuddly Christmas toys from Haskins.

Lisa Looker, brand director at Haskins, said: "We wanted to make it our mission this Christmas to ensure that everyone in the community feels included in the festive celebrations, as it is a difficult time of year for many.

"We hope we have facilitated a special Christmas experience for the patients of Countess Mountbatten Hospice, and the residents of Speedwell Court, that will bring them, and their families joy this festive period."

Haskins has donated more than 400 Christmas toys to schools and charities across the south this festive season, in communities that are local to its centres.

Countess Mountbatten Hospice is the garden centre's nominated ‘Charity of the Year' and over £1,400 has been raised to date.

Haskins is located in Ferndown (Dorset), West End (Southampton), Roundstone and Snowhill (West Sussex). Haskins Snowhill is currently closed to carry out the final phase of the centre's redevelopment plan, ahead of re-opening for business in spring 2020.
