Gosport Gym extension opens with latest Gym kit

Published: 11th January 2018 13:51

Gosport Leisure Centre has opened a new larger Gym with an investment of £1.2 million by Gosport Borough Council.  The new Gym has increased in size by 35% and has been installed with the latest state of the art Gym equipment.  The Gym has attracted a variety of age groups and there is kit suitable for beginners and regular exercises.

Member Sue Eden-Browne, age 52 from Gosport, said, “The new Gym is vast, very airy with loads of equipment. I like the layout, colour schemes and space. I had a go at a new exercise today, the Battle Ropes and it is great for stress relief.”

Alex Dean, age 24 from Lee on Solent “It is significantly bigger than the old Gym with loads of space. I have moved around a bit and used a few Gyms so I get to see the differences. This is really good, the new kit is like space age, love the grass effect workout area, so you get the feel you are training for your favourite sport.”

Charlotte March, age 18 from Hill Head “Love the new Gym it is really spacious. I work out 4-5 times a week as after my A Levels I would like to join the Navy. It is great stress relief from college.”

Gosport Leisure Centre Gym has introduced new cutting edge kit such as the Watt Bike, with Real Ride Feel technology giving the resistance and sensation of riding on the road. The bikes were designed working alongside British Cycling, Olympic Cyclists and world-leading sports scientists, and it is claimed to be the most authentic ride feel in the world.

Another new addition are the Techno Gym Skill Mills to enable you to train like an athlete and achieve power, speed, stamina and agility in the form of High Intensity Interval Training. Along with cardiovascular machines there is also a large spacious free weights area and functional training rig.

Cllr Graham Burgess, Chairman of the council's Community Board, said: "The leisure centre is going from strength to strength and is very popular. There's clearly a demand for the latest equipment, and we're happy to invest further to help people keep fit and healthy."

In addition to the gym the centre boasts more more refurbishments including a larger new Group Workout Studio and a dedicated Group Cycle Studio with lights for a great atmosphere.

Gosport Leisure Centre is operated by Places for People Leisure on behalf of Gosport Borough Council.
