Few Spaces Left for Over The Wall's Charity Abseil

Published: 6th March 2013 21:53

On Saturday 20th April 2013 Havant based children's charity Over The Wall will be holding an exclusive fundraising event at the Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth to raise awareness of their work and to support local children affected by serious and life-limiting illness.

They are looking for members of the public to abseil 100m down the iconic tower by day or to take on the first ever extreme moonlight abseil, descending from under the towers incredible glass floor. Only done previously by the Royal Navy but never by moonlight!

They are also looking for members of the public to buy tickets and attend their exclusive charity ball from 7pm until midnight, with fine dining at the top, live performances and special guests including their Patron actor Larry Lamb (EastEnders and Gavin & Stacey).

Over The Wall is a registered national children's charity established in Hampshire in 1999.  It provides free life-changing activity camps to children aged 8-17 affected by serious and life-limiting illness in the UK. They also provide camps to siblings and family groups. Currently supporting over 400 families, Over the Wall addresses over 100 different medical conditions from progressive cancers to extremely rare genetic conditions, who gain little or no support elsewhere.

AboutMyArea was told, "Through our camps, children build confidence, self-esteem and resilience; they also find fun, friendship and laughter which have often been lost due to months and sometimes years, in and out of hospitals undergoing frightening and painful treatments.

"Over The Wall makes a huge difference to the lives of children affected by serious illness and we rely on public donations to maintain our service, as we do not receive any government funding."

If you would like to change the life of a seriously ill child and take-part or attend this exciting event book today at www.otw.org.uk or for more information contact Over The Wall by calling 02392 477 110 or emailing donna@otw.org.uk.
