TheD-Day Museum presents The Lost Hour Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World" double bill on Sunday 24 March 4:30pm & 6:30pm Directed by Harry Hoyt and Irwin Allen.
At 4.30pm: A special screening of the 1925 silent movie. This was the first ever film adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic book about a land where prehistoric beasts still roam. Directed by Harry O.Hoyt the film stars Wallace Beery as Prof Challenger and features the pioneering stop-motion special effects of Willis O'Brien of King Kong fame. (U certificate)
6.15pm:there will be a short introductory talk by Patti Gaal-Holmes from the School of Creative Arts, Film and Media, University of Portsmouth.
Followed at 6.30pm by the full colour version made in 1960, directed by Irwin Allen. Claude Rains plays Prof Challenger. He puts together an expedition to venture into a remote plateau in the depths of the Amazon, where they are left fighting for their lives as they seek to find a way home.
