As part of the annual Portsmouth Dance Festival ‘imPact', which we launched last year, a 1920s themed theatrical performance is being rehearsed, starting next month, on Saturday evening 30th June 2012
We are looking for Tap and/or Charleston Dancers and Extras to create a 1920s Nightclub on stage.
You do have to have some dancing background, but not necessary Charleston.
Some acting is required too, so if you have a little drama under your belt, that would come in handy.
Age is 16+ only due to the nature of the performance. Younger may be considered, pending on appearance.
Extras will not be required to dance, but to create the night club atmosphere on stage.
Rehearsals will be taken place from Friday 18th May for 6 weeks every week at 8.15pm at John Pounds Centre Portsea.
Dress Rehearsal on the day at the Kings during the day - again, time yet to be sorted.
Casting will take place according to skill.
Costumes are totally free to your imagination, as long it is in 1020s style. We want to see the wild and wonderful in all colours.
If your Charleston is not quite up to scratch join the Charleston Workshop which coincides with the rehearsals and takes place every Saturday at 12 noon to update your skills.
Director and Choreography: Sheena Hall
Saturday evening 30th June 2012 - the exact time of the performance has not yet been released.
A contribution of £10pp is required to cover running costs and must be paid up front via PayPal to Admin@PortsmouthLife.com to secure your place.
