This week at No6 starts on Wednesday with 'NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHT' proclaimed by Guardian film critics to be a 5 star film of the year.
'KILLER JOE' steps up to the plate on Friday, starring Matthew McConaughey as a policeman/hit-man, edge of the seat stuff from director William Friedkin who directed The French Connection just a few moons ago.
Whisky is the theme of Ken Loach's latest film 'THE ANGELS' SHARE' and to celebrate this esteemed beverage, we invite you to share with us a wee nip, a dram, a snifter or drop of the amber liquid. We will be offering (for a small charge) a little taster of some Scotch Whiskies in the cafe area. |
| NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHT (12A) - Wednesday 12 September at 7pm Master documentary maker, Patricio Guzmán presents his 'visionary masterpiece for our times', set in Chile's Atacama Desert. There, people search the past to understand the present. While women comb through the sands for remains of loved ones who 'disappeared' during Pinochet's regime, astronomers peer into the cosmos to solve the middle of the beginning of life. Visually magnificent, the film will look particularly impressive on our large screen. |
| KILLER JOE (18) - Friday 14 September at 7pm Matthew McConaughey is toothpick-chewing, spur-clinking charmer Joe Cooper, a law enforcer by day and a ruthlessly efficient contract killer by night. Chris Smith (Hirsch) is in debt to some strong-arms, and his mother has an attractive life insurance policy which could solve all his problems. He calls in Joe, but Joe wants cash up front. When that proves impossible, Joe asks for a retainer.... |
| THE ANGEL'S SHARE (15) - Saturday 15 September at 7pm Acclaimed British director Ken Loach returns to the screen with this heart-warming new film with a spirited twist. Young offender Robbie (newcomer Paul Brannigan) narrowly escapes a prison sentence. While carrying out his community service he meets and befriends a ragtag band of ex-cons, all of whom are finding it nigh on impossible to get jobs due to their criminal records. Through a series of coincidences the gang stumble upon an ultra-rare barrel of whisky and hatch a hare-brained scheme to purloin it and start their lives afresh. |
