One World Week In Portsmouth, Waterlooville And Fareham
Published: 18th October 2012 15:09 |
Groups around the Portsmouth area are gearing up for One World Week which begins on 21st October.
There's an exciting programme of films, talks, church services, walks, displays and food, all to help explore the theme of ‘Sharing Destiny.' One World Week is about getting people from diverse backgrounds to explore some of the issues like hunger and poverty which affect people around the world but also to celebrate living in one world and to enjoy meeting people from different cultures.
Sue James, one of the organisers says: "We have a real variety of events this year. We have a Question Time and International meal in Waterlooville, a chance to hear about Amnesty's work in North Africa or Where our Waste goes in Fareham while in Portsmouth there'll be a big event with stalls and food at the University where we'll invite people to share their ideas for making the world a better place. Portsmouth Film Society is showing a film about Bolivia ‘Even the Rain' and there's lots more. Come and find out more!"
