Try A Taste Of The World At Portsmouth Central Library

Get into the groove at the BME festival-style 'Tastes of the World' event at Portsmouth Central Library this Friday (10 May), from 10am until 4pm.
Forget quiet, the library is set to come alive with the sound of music at this fun filled family day out, organised by local BME (Black, Minority and Ethnic) groups.
Come along and enjoy songs, stories, music, dance, arts and crafts, food, and traditional dress from across the globe. Take a look at African textiles and make carnival hand bands with local school children.
You'll get to find out more about the different groups in your local community, and have fun tasting some of the great cuisines on offer. If you enjoy the samples you can even treat yourself by buying a portion.
David Percival, libraries learning and engagement manager at the council, said: "We hope lots of people will take up this great opportunity to meet with, and celebrate, the diverse communities that live in the city."
Local groups and businesses will be showcasing the range of goods and services that are available. Caribbean Islands Association, Afro Cart Foods, Off the Record, Gateway Integration Fund Project, African Women's Forum and Portsmouth Chinese Association will all be there on the day.
The event is completely free and everyone's invited, so why not pop along to the first and third floor of the Central Library, and add a splash of culture to your weekend.
