Portsmouth Film Society Presents a Short film Gala in November

On Wednesday November 20, Portsmouth Film Society will have a night of short films at the Square Tower, Old Portsmouth, with two special screenings.
The first showing, at 6pm, is of the annual Shorts Cut events, which presents a showcase of the best local short films by the region's filmmakers and video producers. Shorts Cut has been running since 2005 as a showcase for local filmmakers, and was taken over by Portsmouth Film Society in 2012, who are holding the screening for the first time at the Square Tower in Old Portsmouth.
At 8pm the second screening presents a selection of the best short films supported by BAFTA, presenting a mix of short films by some of the nations most talented film makers.
The Society's chairperson Aysegul Epengin says: 'PFS is really proud to present local filmmakers' work, and we think that this short film evening is a great way to see what is being made in the local area as well as other films from around the country.'
Excerpts from the films selected for Shorts Cut are hosted on the Shorts Cut website. For general screenings, films completed after January 1, 2012 will be eligible for the News Guide award for best short film.
Portsmouth Film Society is an award winning not-for profit organisation, honoured at the 2011 British Film Society Awards for best Community involvement and a second place for Society of the Year.
