FIT FOR YOUR LIFE?

Although not quite a pensioner, I found myself perusing an issue of the PompeyPensioner, and came across the article on avoiding falls in seniors. All the points were very important, but I thought I'd like to expand upon the keeping active point - keeping fit is ok in principle but not so easy to find the time when you're trying to juggle all aspects of life, but I'd always encourage those over 50 years old to think about their future health and fitness, by banking their bone strength, seeking opportunities to become and stay heart healthy and challenging balance mechanisms. A better quality of life can be achieved and make recuperation after illness that much easier. Another plus is that when endorphins (our happy hormones) are released into the blood stream after physical exertion, it can make depression easier to cope with and are sometimes better than any painkiller, and meeting friends in the gym can become very social when teamed up with a cuppa afterwards!
As well as the gym manager at Paulsgrove Community Centre, I am trained by the Primary Care Trust to hold Strength; Balance and Heart exercise for Seniors, and hold a weekly RAVERS (Steady & Strong) class at the Paulsgrove and the Portchester community centres, call me on 023 9237 0643/07557434667 or pop into the Paulsgrove community centre in the afternoon, if you'd like to know more about seniors fitness sessions.
