Here's the latest list of exciting events, exhibitions and activities happening in museums across the city in February.

Portsmouth City Museum - Egyptian-style paper cutting - Saturday 1 February, 10am - 4pm

Make quick drawings in response to Secret Egypt and work with artist Eileen White to transform them into unique, decorative paper silhouettes.  Suitable for adults aged 16+ and beginners are welcome.  Tickets cost £15, or £10 with a Portsmouth Leisure Card and all materials are provided.  Places are limited so pre-booking is required. Natural History Museum - Bird Box Making - Saturday 1 February, 10.30am - 11.30am

Make a simple nest box for a small bird and find out how to care for birds and other wildlife during winter.  Suitable for families with children aged 7 and over.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Tickets cost £3 per child, or £2 with a Portsmouth Leisure Card.  Accompanying adults free.  Places are limited so pre-booking is required.  Call 023 9283 4744 (Monday to Friday in office hours) for more information.

D-Day Museum - Meet Normandy Veterans - Monday 17 February - Friday 21 February

Members of the Portsmouth branch of the Normandy Veterans Association will be at the D-Day Museum to chat to visitors about their experiences around the time of D-Day.  Come and find out what it was like, from the people who were actually there!  Veterans may not be able to attend every day, so please phone on the day of your visit (023 9282 6722) if you wish to confirm in advance that the veterans have been able to attend that day.  Usual admission price applies.  Museum open 10am - 5pm, and veterans will be present between 11am - 3pm.

Portsmouth City Museum - Ancient Drama! - Tuesday 18 February, 1pm - 3pm

Join H2oh! Education for an imaginative and exciting drama workshop exploring all things ancient Egyptian.  Create ancient characters, explore ancient Egyptian rituals and enjoy games and improvisation to bring this amazing culture to life.  Suitable for children aged 7 - 11.  Admission is free, however places are limited so pre-booking is required.  Call 023 9283 4744 (Monday to Friday in office hours) for more information.

Natural History Museum - Owl Pellet Investigation - Wednesday 19 February, 10.30am - 11.30am

Find out about owls and how they eat before having a go at finding out what's inside a real owl pellet.  Not for the squeamish!  Suitable for families with children aged 7 and over and children must be accompanied by an adult. Portsmouth City Museum - Hybrid Heads - Thursday 20 February, 1pm - 3pm

Learn about the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians and use recycled materials to transform yourself into an animal-headed god or goddess in this 3D making workshop.  Suitable for adults and children aged 8+.  All under 14s must be accompanied by a responsible adult (maximum three children per adult).  Admission is free, however places are limited so pre-booking is required. Natural History Museum - Walk on the Wild Side! - Friday 21 February, 12pm - 3pm

Natural History Museum - Super Senses! - Wednesday 26 February, 10.30am - 11.30am

Find out how animals use their senses and meet some live examples in this hands-on workshop for under 5s.  All families are welcome but this workshop is particularly suitable for children aged 2-5.  Tickets cost £3 per child or £2 with a Portsmouth Leisure Card.  Accompanying adults free.  Places are limited so pre-booking is required.  Call 023 9283 4744 (Monday to Friday in office hours) for more information.
