Cumberland House Natural History Museum and organisations across the city are showcasing the wildlife of Portsmouth with free events and activities for all ages during Portsmouth's National Science and Engineering Week (NSEW) 2014. From Saturday 15 March until Sunday 23 March, children and families are invited to explore the natural world on our doorstep.
Museum activities planned for the week include making cardboard bugs and spiral snakes, a demonstration of seabird nesting, and investigating Portsmouth aquatic life using video camera and live specimens. On Sunday 23 March, 11 am - 4 pm, learn how a camera obscura works and how it brings the outside indoors.
NSEW activities around Portsmouth, in coordination with other organisations, include a spring walk exploring the wildlife of Portsdown on Thursday 20 March, 10 am - 12 pm; nature-themed stories and rhyme times all week at local libraries; and a chance to learn how to encourage wildlife to live in your back yard at Southsea Greenhouse on Saturday 22 March, 11 am - 4 pm.
