Sing Your Heart Out In Chichester
Published: 3rd February 2015 12:30 |
Portsmouth Festival Choir will be in Chichester next Saturday 7th February, for a day's Come and Sing event featuring choruses from Handel's stirring oratorio Judas Maccabaeus.
Although no longer as well known as the composer's Messiah, this work is full of magnificent choruses reflecting the changing moods of the Jewish people as their fortunes vary from dejection to jubilation and includes the joyous "See, the conquering hero comes!" and the thrilling "Sound an Alarm".
All the choruses will be studied on the day under the baton of Musical Director, Peter Allwood. The day will begin at 11 a.m. and finish at 5 p.m. with a break for lunch. At 4 p.m. there will be an informal narrated performance to which all are invited.
The Come and Sing will take place at St Paul's Church, Churchside, Chichester PO10 6FT (doors open 10.45)
Tickets for the day cost £15 (students £8). Score hire and hot beverages are included in the price, and snacks will be available for sale.
