Autumn Events At The National Museum Of The Royal Navy - Early Bird Bookings!

The National Museum Of The Royal Navy has released details of exciting workshops, events and activities coming up this autumn including The Royal Navy Submarine Museum & Explosion Museums in Gosport and The Royal Marines Museum, Eastney.

Tuesday 8th September 2pm - 4pm and Tuesday 1st December 2pm - 4pm - Naval Tea Club @ the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
During this popular social event for seniors, there will be tea, chat and reminiscence with a different theme, artefacts and archives each time. No knowledge of naval history is needed, just curiosity, and a willingness to meet others and take part in lively conversation. All sessions are free and take place in the Victory Learning Centre.
Free event but booking needed. No Dockyard ticket required.
Monday 21st September 12 noon - 1pm - Military Millinery Talk @ the Royal Marines Museum, Eastney Esplanade, Southsea
Discover more about the history and development of military headway headwear and view rare examples from Royal Marines collection.
Free even no ticket required.
Tuesday 22nd September 6.30pm Preview 7pm - 9pm Talk - Nautical Chic Talk @ the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
Join fashion historian Amber Jane Butchart, for a talk on her new book Natural Chic tracing the relationships between maritime dress and the fashionable wardrobe, uncovering stories, tracking the trends and tracing the evolution of the style back to its roots in our seafaring past. Find out about the origins of naval uniform and why it continues to provide perennial inspiration for the fashion world, there will also be a chance to preview rare uniforms from the museum collection.
Tickets: £10 per person and must be booked in advance
Saturday 3rd October 12noon - 4pm - Black History Multicultural Day @ the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
In association with the University of Portsmouth, help celebrate black history and its links to the Royal Navy. Meet local community members to learn more about their cultures through craft activities and dressing up, food, music, song and dance.
Free drop in event.
Wednesday 2nd December 10.30am - 12noon - People Stories Coffee Morning @ the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
Discover some of the amazing people behind the Navy over the past 100 years. Explore their achievements and adventures through artefacts and photographs whilst enjoying your morning coffee.
