Kids have a fantastic opportunity to explore a children's classic by celebrated nonsense poet Edward Lear in themed sessions at Portsmouth Museum.
Babies, toddlers and children can take part in a series of adventurous activities inspired by the classic poem 'The Jumblies'.
Free themed activities, aimed at different age groups, will explore the verses of the poem to reflect the journeys and adventures of the Jumblies.
Portsmouth Museum is teaming up with Brighton-based artist-educators, Octopus Inc, to deliver the series of 'Travelling Together' events inspired by the poem and artworks on show in the museum's Picture Gallery.
On Wednesday 2 September, 0-2 year olds and their adults can play and learn together in sessions which will explore wind, water, storms and circles, in a multi-sensory environment. Three 45-minute sessions will be taking place during the day at 10.30am, 11.30am and 2.30pm.
Inspired by the Jumblies' travels, 3-5 year olds can make a giant sieve ship and small boats and take them on adventurous journeys in more Travelling Together sessions on Sunday 6 September at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
Places are limited so anyone interested in attending is advised to book a place by calling 023 9283 4744, Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm, or pop in to book at the museum's reception desk.
All activities will take place on the ground floor of Portsmouth Museum. Baby changing facilities are available in the accessible toilet.
